The Client:

One of the largest independent charities serving the North East and providing care services to both adults and children. They are seeking a Head of Fundraising and Marketing to deliver growth and income generation goals.


The Candidate: 

The perfect candidate will be able to develop a fundraising strategy and lead marketing activity, to encourage positive relations between both internal and external stakeholders. Leadership skills are essential to help support this goal alongside a desire to transform the lives of people who need care.


  • Provide non-statutory income and drive sustainable growth in long and short term funding.
  • Uphold our mission and values throughout all activities and events, undertaken by the fundraising and marketing team.
  • Lead and motivate a team of professional fundraisers (including events, community, corporate, retail, grants, in memory of and internal/external communications) to deliver the fundraising strategy and all income targets whilst contributing to the delivery of the overall strategy.
  • Maintain maximum support from a wide variety of sources, thereby ensuring targets are achieved and sufficient income is received to support business activities.
  • Work with the Retail Manager to ensure maximum return on retail opportunities and promotion of events.
  • Work with the Managers to promote the commercial arm of complimentary therapy services in the wider community and corporate world.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver the fundraising strategy for all non-statutory income.
  • Oversee the implementation of all marketing, campaigning, fundraising, grant applications and retail strategies.
  • Develop, deliver and meet fundraising budget and performance targets by leading a team of Fundraisers.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of the Charity, as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Deliver organisational objectives through initiatives targeted at key internal/external groups across the geographical location of the hospice.
  • Develop new areas for income generation for the hospice.
  • Ensure that fundraising in the name of the hospice complies with legal industry and ethical standards.
  • To develop key performance indicators for all areas of responsibility.
